1.3 Versioning and licensing of IVAN™

The version numbers of IVAN™ consists of three parts:

  • major version
  • minor version
  • release

A change in the major version number reflects a major change inside the IVAN™ system environment and structure.

A change in the minor version number is used to increase functionality, most likely it will be necessary to adopt or review the configuration parts of the software. Please consult the included readme files of the new version for further information.

A change in the release is affected by bug fixes and in most cases it will not be necessary to change the configuration. If it should be necessary to adjust the configuration, the readme files of the new version will let you know about these issues.

New versions of IVAN™ will be announced using the news page of the asterTools™ website. You can also subscribe to the news feed here.

1.4 Support

The support for IVAN™ is done exclusively via the ZaKoTel Support Forum, which can be found at http://forum.zakotel.com. Please understand, that we cannot give support via email or phone, the forum is intended to also act as a knowledge collection for all our customers.

1.5 Licenses

Licenses are being validated online once the asterisk is started and on each reload of the Asterisk. So the computer that the software is running on needs permanent access to the internet, the host contacted is licensing.zakotel.com via the HTTP protocol. This connection can be made either direct or by using a http proxy server.

With every license you purchase you can run exactly one computer with this license at a time. The online license verification process will recognize a second use and the application on the formerly started computer will terminate with an license violation.

For testing purposes, you can use the following demo license key inside the application config file /etc/asterisk/at_license.d/ivan.conf:

File /etc/asterisk/at_license.d/ivan.conf:

...
  key = "DEMO"
...

after the insert of the license you need to go to the Asterisk CLI:

# rasterisk

or, if you have access to the machine you can go to terminal 9 (ALT+F9) to access the Asterisk CLI

then restart the licensing module:

*CLI> asterTools licenses reload

you can see how many connection you can use:

*CLI> asterTools licenses show

will bring you the following output when you use the DEMO license:

asterTools licenses show::

asterTools(tm) licenses:
------------------------
Product              Status             in-use / max
ivan                 demo                    0 / 1

This demo license give you the possibility to run 1 call, a second concurrent call will not be answered from IVAN™

Licenses have to be purchased for a major version, if IVAN™'s major version increases, you need to purchase an upgrade to this new major version if you want to use the new version. You can use your purchased license as long as you want with the previous major version, but once you purchase an upgrade, your former license code will turn invalid and you need to upgrade the application to the major version you purchased the upgrade for.

The license itself consists of a licensing string ("key"), that has to be entered in the application configuration file /etc/asterisk/at_license.d/ivan.conf. For information about this file, please consult the appropriate section in this documentation.

ZaKoTel is allowed to revoke licenses immediately without any warning or refund in case of suspicion of a license violation. By purchasing a license for any product of ZaKoTel, you agree to these regulations.
